Later in the day when Tim stole the marijuana, Hal turned up with an accomplice. He said he just wanted to show his friend the old place. The tour must have included the edge of the field where Karen had found Norman's marijuana plants growing. So Hal was too late, unless the plants taken by Tim had been harvested somewhere else. I did not tell Hal about Tim's earlier visit.
